Finite element modeling of a magnetoelectric energy transducer including the load effect

Résumé

This paper presents a 2-D mutliphysics modeling of a magnetoelectric (ME) energy transducer using the finite-element method. The electrical impedance load representing the conditioning circuit has been considered in the coupled equations. The coupling model is developed in both the harmonic regime and transient regime. The harmonic model can be used to determine the resonance frequency and optimal load to maximize the delivered power, whereas the transient model is essential to study the energy transfer in the situation of nonlinear circuits such as the employment of the synchronized switch technique. The developed multiphysics model provides a useful tool to the design optimization of energy transducer devices based on ME laminated composites.
