Driving a loudspeaker diaphragm at nodal positions

Abstract

The loudspeaker driving arrangement comprises: - a vibrating support or diaphragm that is operable to vibrate according to a piston mode and a plurality of break-up modes when excited, - several actuators 16, 18 that are connected to the vibrating support for supplying excitation thereto, wherein the loudspeaker driver comprises N actuators (16, 18) that are located substantially at the N vibrating nodes (A, C) respectively of the (N+1)th order break-up mode. The embodiments describe the situations in which N=2 or 3.
